Kwaw Kese Declares Himself the “King of Kings” in The Ghanaian Music Industry

In a recent exclusive interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning, the renowned Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Emmanuel Kofi Botchwey, popularly known as Kwaw Kese, boldly asserted his claim as the “King of Kings” in the country’s music scene. The self-proclaimed monarch of music emphasized his dominance, suggesting that even well-established artists such as Sarkodie, Black Sherif, and King Promise look up to him.

Kwaw Kese, who has been a prominent figure in the Ghanaian music industry for two decades, confidently stated that almost all secular musicians in Ghana, including the celebrated rapper Sarkodie, draw inspiration from his extensive body of work. The multiple award-winning singer and songwriter, known for his dynamic and genre-defying style, believes he has carved a niche for himself in the music scene.

The ‘Abodam’ hitmaker, known for his trendsetting approach and boundary-pushing contributions, expressed his confidence by declaring his supremacy, suggesting that his influence extends beyond the realm of creating music.

“When it comes to Ghana music, I’m the King of Kings. It’s been 20 years, and my song is still number one. Which king again? We have the king of dancehall, the king Sark, and all the other kings, but who is the king of all these people? I am the king. They all look up to me,” Kwaw Kese confidently asserted.

He further implied that whatever the current generation of artists is doing, he has already experienced and accomplished in his illustrious career. The artist, known for his charismatic persona and unique style, expressed pride in his achievements and contributions to the Ghanaian music landscape.

Addressing the perception of being associated with lunacy due to his alleged use of cannabis, Kwaw Kese referred to himself as a “beautiful madman” who is rich and responsible. Despite his past association with cannabis, he revealed that he has quit smoking due to his current age and health considerations.

“I’m driving a nice car and dressing nice. I don’t eat from the gutters, my kids go to better schools, and I take care of my family,” Kwaw Kese added, highlighting that he has evolved both personally and professionally over the years.
