“I am Prepared For a Political Appointment”- Rex Omar States

Expressing readiness for a potential political appointment is Ghanaian music legend Rex Owusu Marfo, professionally known as Rex Omar.

The celebration highlife musician known for his influential mantle in the Ghanaian music scene believes that he there’s more he could do to aid development of his country aside just music, hence this announcement.

Caught up in an interview by Kwame Dadzie,Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z host, the crooner, who is also a dedicated member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), asserted that he would gladly accept the appointment if the task falls within his scope.

“I will accept a political appointment because now I think I am of age and I think if I am given any appointment that is within my capacity, I will be able to contribute positively to the development of this country,” he said.

When asked about his interest in a position at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the “Abiba” hitmaker responded, “We’ll tackle that when the time comes. Ultimately, all positions are political appointments. If you’re astute and well-informed about our nation, you can excel wherever you’re placed.”

The iconic singer shared his views on Ghana’s democracy, suggesting that extending the presidential term would enhance governance. He argued that the current four-year term isn’t sufficient for significant economic impact, contrasting it with America’s established democracy spanning over two centuries.

“I believe a six-year term would be more effective. With six years, the first year or so can be devoted to establishing the government. If nothing substantial is achieved within four or five years, it’s evident that little progress can be made. There’s no point seeking a second term,” he proposed.

The entire scenario is this: consider our circumstances. Following the election, the first year is dedicated to forming the government, making appointments, and addressing administrative matters. By the time the government is ready to implement its agenda, nearly two years have elapsed,” he elaborated.
