Okyeame Kwame Voices His Dismay At Kofi Kinata Winning The ‘Songwriter of the Year’ Award For Three Consecutive Years

Kwame Nsiah-Apau, also known as Okyeame Kwame, a prominent figure in Ghanaian hip life and hip hop, recently shared his feelings about his fellow artist Kofi Kinata winning the ‘Songwriter Of The Year’ award three times in a row at the Ghana Music Awards.

Speaking in an interview on Onua TV, as reported by www.benblaynews.net, Okyeame Kwame revealed that he felt upset with himself after Kofi Kinata’s consecutive wins.

He explained that before Kofi Kinaata’s streak, he himself had won the award twice in a row. Feeling a bit pained by being surpassed, Okyeame Kwame decided to collaborate with Kofi Kinaata on a song titled ‘Sika’.

He expressed his motivation for the collaboration, stating, “I wanted to witness how he records his songs in order to learn from him.” Okyeame Kwame elaborated on the planning process, mentioning discussions about collaborating for three to four years before finally deciding to record the song last year.

However, when Okyeame Kwame sent Kofi Kinaata a beat with his vocals for the song, Kofi Kinaata gave feedback that it wasn’t satisfactory.
