In a heart-wrenching interview on Empire FM, Mr. Coffie Eshun, the father of the late hiplife musician Castro, revealed his unwavering belief that his son may still be alive, despite his disappearance over a decade ago. Castro, whose real name is Theophilus Tagoe, vanished on July 6th, 2014, during a holiday trip in Ada, while jet skiing with friends, including Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan. Extensive search efforts have yielded no results, leaving the whereabouts of Castro and his companion, Janet Bandu, a mystery.
Mr. Coffie Eshun’s hope is fueled by his faith, and he suspects foul play in his son’s disappearance. Although the jet ski used by Castro and Janet Bandu was recovered, their bodies were never found, despite ongoing police investigations. The legal presumption of death after seven years of absence, as stated in Ghana’s Evidence Act, 1975 (N.R.C.D. 323), has not deterred Mr. Coffie’s belief in his son’s possible return.
The enduring mystery and emotional distress surrounding Castro’s disappearance have left many questions unanswered, even after a decade. Mr. Coffie’s unwavering hope serves as a testament to the unbreakable bond between a parent and child, and the human spirit’s capacity to hold onto hope, even in the face of adversity.
